The Kustom Kemps of America celebrated their big Two-O this year with "Sled Scene East" in Gettysburg, PA on June 13th & 14th 2003. This trip was a must for me, as the legendary Aztec was going to be there making its debut after a lengthy restoration back to pristine original condition! It was not a disappointment! I was literally breathless when this gorgeous sled rolled out of the enclosed trailer into the gleaming morning light! If this was the only kustom I saw all weekend, it would still have been worth the 8 hour drive it took to get there! Radical yet tastefully restyled, this old sled has had a rough life. I've seen the pictures of what she looked like prior to the restoration, and believe me, it was not a pretty site! Hats off to Barry Mazza and Bob Nitti for an incredible job on restoring probably one of the most significant customs EVER!
Friday Night saw a torrential down pour of rain in the small town of Gettysburg. Unfortunately, this turned the field in which the show was held in, into a mud bog! Early Saturday morning, the sun came out and things began to dry up a bit. Most of the Kemps had "Mudwalls" instead of whitewalls, but that didn't stop them from rollin' in!
A big thanks must go out to Jerry Titus, Blain Kauffman and everyone else who helped organize this killer Lead Sled show! If your not a member of KKOA, then you need to be! Check out their new updated web site for information on how to join. Kustom Kemps of America
